Fraxel Repair is an ablative, fractional laser that reduces age spots, plumps and softens wrinkles, and improves overall skin complexion. Once initial wound healing is complete, patients will enjoy long lasting results.
About the Procedure
Fraxel Repair, also referred to as Fraxel Re:pair, is a type of ablative fractional laser resurfacing treatment. Ablative, fractional laser resurfacing treatments use targeted heat energy to encourage skin desquamation, which exfoliates away old, damaged tissue to reveal healthier skin beneath. Fraxel Repair, not to be confused with Fraxel Restore which is a non-wounding laser, gives patients dramatic results in just one treatment session. Patients who desire treatment for deeper acne scarring may require an additional treatment for optimal results. Prior to treatment the skin will be evaluated, cleansed, and a topical anesthetic cream will be applied. Local numbing shots may also be administered to the treatment area as well as an oral sedative for optimal patient comfort. A cooling air stream is also commonly used throughout treatment. The laser will then be expertly applied to the treatment area, targeting uneven skin texture, irregular pigmentation, fine lines, and other skin imperfections. The provider will closely monitor the skin to ensure an effective but comfortable session. Once the skin has been thoroughly treated, a soothing serum or ointment will be applied and a bandage may be applied to the skin. Alternative treatments such as microneedling, light therapy, microdermabrasion, or non-ablative laser resurfacing treatments can also improve the appearance and texture of the skin but will require more treatments to obtain and maintain results.
